Postural Correction
Assessment and correction of posture-related pain and imbalance.
Postural correction is not about standing to attention; it is about widening the range of positions your body tolerates comfortably. Long hours at a desk, driving between Hurghada and the resorts, or repeated one-sided lifting gradually shorten some tissues and leave others weak. We assess what has actually adapted in your body and address the specific links in that chain rather than issuing generic advice to sit up straight.
The postural assessment session
The 50-minute assessment photographs your standing posture from front, side and back, measures thoracic curvature and forward head position, tests hip flexor, hamstring and pectoral length, and grades deep neck flexor, lower trapezius and gluteal strength. We then observe you sitting and working as you normally do. Treatment combines soft-tissue release and mobilisation for the shortened structures with progressive strengthening for the weak ones, plus workstation adjustments. Photographs are repeated at review so the change is visible rather than assumed.
Indications for postural work
- Aching between the shoulder blades by mid-afternoon
- A rounded upper back or forward head position noted by others
- Neck and shoulder tension building through the working day
- One-sided tightness from carrying or repetitive work
- Discomfort that eases on holiday and returns at the desk
What postural correction achieves
- Before and after photographs documenting real change
- Specific tight structures identified by length testing
- Endurance built in the muscles that hold position
- Desk, seat and screen height adjusted to your measurements
- Longer comfortable working periods without stretch breaks
Session length and expected course
Assessment 50 minutes, follow-ups 40 minutes. Postural adaptation is gradual: expect six to ten sessions over eight to twelve weeks alongside consistent daily home work.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is a postural assessment carried out?
We photograph your standing posture from three angles, measure thoracic curvature and forward head position, test muscle length and strength, then watch you sit and work in your normal way.
How long does posture take to change?
Adaptation is gradual. Expect six to ten sessions over eight to twelve weeks, with the photographs repeated at review so change is documented rather than assumed.
Can you help set up my desk and screen?
Yes, chair, desk and screen heights are adjusted to your own measurements, and the same guidance is applied to car driving position when that is part of your day.
